Lee An Does Not Use the Korean Wave (Hallyu)

SURABAYA – Singer and actor, Lee An, 29, has returned to Indonesia. The artiste who was born on April 27, 1980, is involved with Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) to promote his home country. Lee An first visited Surabaya, before leaving for Jakarta. He used this opportunity to introduce his albums to Indonesians.

---

How has it been like for you to return to Indonesia?

Its great. The previous time (January 2009) I made it to Bandung and Jakarta. We visited many places. Now I’m in Surabaya. The weather is a little bit warmer than Korea.

Any plans to increase your fan base in Indonesia?

Sure. For last two albums, I didn’t do many promotions in Indonesia. But I feel touched. In fact, quite a lot of Indonesians know about me. That’s why for the third album which will be released in June, I plan to do promotions here. Especially in big cities such Surabaya and Jakarta.

Do you use the Korean Wave which attracts youngsters, to promote your album?

Not really. I’m sure I can capture Indonesians’ heart without using the Korean Wave. Not many Korean artists come here. If I do that (visit Indonesia), at least it will cheer up the Indonesians.

How are your fans in Indonesia?

I like them. Typically they’re like my Korean fans. Very attractive. They are not opposed to singing together. Quite different from my fans in Singapore. They tend to be passive.

Many Korean singers are popular in Indonesia. Have you listened to Indonesian singers?

Of course. If I’m not wrong, sometimes Indonesian singers’ songs also played on Korean radios. One of them is Mocca Band. I like their music. Very striking.

Do you use Facebook to promote yourself?

Yes, sure. Since last January, I’ve been doing promotion through this networking site. Its quite good. Even my fans in Indonesia knew about my visit through FB. They welcomed me warmly.

Bagaimana rasanya kembali ke Indonesia lagi?
How is it for you to come back to Indonesia?

Menyenangkan.
Its great. Last time (January 2009) I made it to go to Bandung and Jakarta. We visited many places. Now in Surabaya. The weather is a little bit hotter than Korea.

Punya rencana untuk memperbanyak penggemar di Indonesia?
Any plans to increase your fans in Indonesia?

Pasti.
Sure. For last two albums, I didn’t do many promotions in Indonesia. But I feel touched, because in fact, quite many people in Indonesia know me. That’s why for the third album which will be released in June, I plan to do promotion here. Especially in big cities such Surabaya and Jakarta.

Apakah kamu memanfaatkan Korean Waves (demam Korea) yang menyerbu anak muda untuk kelangsungan albummu?
Do you use Korean Waves which attack youngers to promote your album?

Not really. I’m sure I can take Indonesian people’s heart without using the Korean Waves moment. Not many Korean artists come here. If I do that, at least it can make Indonesian people relieved.

Bagaimana penggemar-penggemar di Indonesia?
How are your fans in Indonesia?

Saya suka mereka. Tipikalnya tidak jauh berbeda dengan fans Korea. Sangat atraktif. Mereka tak segan bernyanyi bersama saya. Sedikit berbeda dengan penggemar saya di Singapura. Mereka cenderung pasif.
I like them. Typically they’re like Korean fans. Very attractive. They don’t resist to sing together. Quite different from my fans in Singapore. They tend to be passive.

Penyanyi Korea sudah banyak yang menyerbu Indonesia. Apakah kamu pernah mendengar lagu penyanyi Indonesia?
Many Korean singers attact Indonesia. Have you listened to Indonesian singers?

Tentu pernah. Saya suka musikalitasnya. Sangat mengena.
Of course. Don’t be wrong, sometimes Indonesian singer’s songs also played in Korean radios. One of them is from Mocca Band. I like their music sense. Very strikely.

Memanfaatkan Facebook untuk berpromosi?
Using Facebook to promote?

Yes, sure. Since last January, I’ve been doing promotion thru this networking site. Its quite good. Even, my fans in Indonesia knew my visit thru FB. They welcomed me warmly.
